V8 conversion

Check the plugs out. It looks like a plug and play (after I re-pin some wires) but this is the easy part. :uzi:

The some interesting notes.

The V6 and V8 transmissions are the same size.
The Transfer cases are the same size.

The bell housing on the V6 is 4" thick
and the bell housing on the V8 is 6" thick

The oil sump sits further forward on the V8 then the V6 (longer by 2 extra cylinders)

So the rear tansmission mount had to be fabbed up and pushed to the rear by 4"

The transmission tunnel should be fine because the was enough space for the exhaust to go over top of the bell housing.

The other issue is the transfer case shift lever being to far rearward not being in the original position in my console. The sequoia had a forward mount transfer shifter so it should put it back in the right spot. I' will lose my J-shifter for the sequior shifter, though.

Sequoia has no multimode? Either way looking forward to your updates. This is the engine swap I've been wanting to see in a 3rd gen since forever.

Did not get much done today. :(

Finished cutting grinding and mocking up motor mounts. the hard part is done.

FWIW, All those guys that have done similar swaps, I have no idea how the did all this fab work putting the motor in and out engine bay with the body on. I had a hard enough time making card board templates and making sure everything was centered and I was only working with the frame and upper control arms in the way.

The mount on the left is the OEM V8, the one on the right is mine.

Cut drilled and angled all with 1/4" plate and square tubing.
Try to weld it solidly tomorrow.

Long day at work. I welded up my mounts and rattle canned them silver. Only spray paint I had and I wanted just keep it from rusting.

Since it was 1/4" plate, I decided to buzz box it, to get deep penetration. :girl:
Welds aren't pretty but they are stronger then the flimsy motor mounts on the frame.

Been busy with work. Got the motor mounted. We post pictures this weekend. I am getting the chassis ready to roll back under the body.

I swapped fuel pumps. Was plug and play (for the most part). Last thing before rolling it back is to fab up an exhaust. Hopefully this weekend.
