V8 conversion

So basically, you have a badass 4runner with more power than my SC'd one and other good mods for about 1/4 of the investment I have in mine.
Yeah, nobody likes you.

The idea is to sell your motor while it is still running to recoup the cost of the swap...

Since I did my own swap, I broke even (there abouts) where it didn't cost me anything.

The Tundra does not have a j-shift but a no shift. It is straight push button for 4wd, Awd, 4wd Low and 2wd.

I believe that the connecting rods in all 2uz-fe motors are the same but the Motors built in Japan (LC's and Lexus's) were built to higher refinement (more or less blue printed).

No j-shift on the tundra. As for the cheaper host.

A wrecked tundra sells for about twice what a wrecked Sequoia goes for. Most of the Lexus's, Landcruisers and Sequoia's have been rolled over so the are quite cheap at the salvage auctions.

We have three successful 2UZ swaps here in NC. You need to drag, pull or push it to get here...:rockon:

It looks like Toyota changed around part numbers over the years.

Update - I hit 100k yesterday. So I have officially put 25,000 miles on my swap with no issues.

Now I have to do a TB and WP for preventative maintenance.
 
My god man, I don't even know how to act right now. I don't know what to do with my hands. I think I have to go find a wrecked sequoia.

ok, so i think I'm planning to take the leap finally. Your thread has motivated me to do the v-8 conversion. what I'm doing is I'm going to buy all parts to get the job don't then start into doing the work.
Singtoe, i doubt ill find a donor so ill just be planning to buy an engine complete.
What will i need and what year and model should i get it from?
sequoia engine? tundra engine? or the lexus sc400 engine? whats the best one for my 2000 toyota 4runner 4x4? id like to know years and what parts ill need to buy extra and so on. also, is there any places out there that make a plug and play harness or is the wiring not too bad? ill need all the help i can get and really would appreciate all the help from you i can get. even if possible i can leave a number and maybe u can explain some things and so on. i am planning to start shopping very very soon. I'm selling my S/C setup and doing the V8 for sure.

I as well am planning a V8 swap. I won't get into my details other than the fact that your crazy if you don't buy a donor vehicle! 2 great websites besides a local salvage auction house are copart and IAAI check them out, they will have something and it will probably be exactly what you need. I'll be purchasing my donor vehicle from copart because they have multiple locations in my area and the prices always seem to be cheap.

I know this is old, but with seeing how well your work is I would totally be up with having you repair a salvage car for me! How did the Subie turn out??
