Ok, well it is a Monday and it has been one. Connor had me, though I don't recall it being April 1. May have to get the sniper to come back to his house to take out his new tires.
That was quite the amount of chrome on that 98. Looks nice though.

I am using a 2003 v8 4Runner box but the gx470 box can be used too.
There is no plug and play wiring.
Exhaust and intake is easy, wiring is not so much.
What year is your donnor swap?
my boss gave me a 03 tundra limited with 116000km been sitting for 5 years he just didnt want it to go to waste so he gave it to me it started right up after sitting for that lol
and it is possible to make it plug and play for most part i got the plugs to plug into the tundra engine wiring harness and i had 2 4runners to work with so got the plugs out of the one to plug into the other 4runners interior plugs and cut unsolder one of the 4runners pcm male plug off the board and soldered wires on the ends and plug it into the one plug that plugs into the 4runner pcm and join them all up. im sure there are more wires that i need to run to other places but for most part most of the wires can be connected in the pcm location.
ill try and get pics of it when in more into it im on making wiring diagrams for easy reference for diagnostics.
ps i know it possible i did same wiring setup when i did 85 supra and put a 87 supra turbo motor in it 7 year no wiring issues

Best luck to you but it is definitely not plug and play.
I just sat here for 3 hours and read every single page.....carefully! I cannot applaud you loud enough. I will tell you though....I have a wrecked 2013 5.7 4wd tundra with only 50k on it sitting in my garage right now. Problem is that there isn't anyone on the planet that have successfully swapped one into anything. I am a pretty damn good wrench but I do not have the skills to complete it correctly. If you ever get the itch ....please let me know!

Sorry for the delay guys.
Took the Surf to Firestone for an alignment.
Started working on the Snorkle and Taco Whip.
The new air box sits a few inches from the old one.
Had to cut a new hole.
I had to make an extention for the snorkle to the air box.
I took some 3" PVC pipe from lowes and turned it down on my lathe.
Safari tubing fits perfect.
Test fitting everything together to make before painting and putting the fender on it.
Snorkle install with new whip.

awesome thread... any updates on that SC?
I think you need to multiply your 250 miles by 8-10% and add the product to your original miles then divide through by your gallons but I forgot what they were. I calculated the difference based on tire size using a calculator at some time while back and came up with about 8% (maxis bighorn 255/85/16). Recently I traveled a known highway distance (165mi) and calculated the percent error ((actual miles-odo miles)/odo miles) x 100 and arrived at a little over 10% difference. Ie. With my 33s my odo reads bout 10% low. Bottom line...it is better than 15 and I would think you ought to be able to make it better when cruising by focusing on cruising:surfer:
