V8 conversion

Figure out coolant temp gauge and hook up

Wrap wire harnesses.

Swap over Cruise control switch

Is there any way to just scrap the Toyota gauge system, add your own sending unit, and take the "guts" of a typical gauge and put it "in" the gauge cluster....replace the Sequoia gauge with an aftermarket one but use the sequoia gauge needle n such?? I doubt it, but that is all I can think of without re-engineering what you have.....

I took the cluster apart and the water temp has 4 leads going to it. The 4runner only has 3. The gauge is soldered directly to the IC board while the 4runner gauge has no IC board.

I believe my only solution is to take the advice of what some said earlier and install the Sequoia A/C computer.

To be honest, I will only run the power and grounds to it. Just enough to make it process the temp signal from the ECM to the Instrument gauge. There are 34 wires going to it but i will end up using 6 or 7.

Just need to find space under my dash to hide the A/C computer.
 
Picked up my shortened and balanced driver shaft.

Cost me a hundred bucks though.:sobbing:

Figured out the coolant gauge.


FYI To do the Sequoia dash exchange - you need the AC amplifier and the V8 ecu to make it work.

The Tundra Dash board (especially the 5vz-fe) should work and switch over a lot easier.

Today was a cold ass day here in NC. I thought winter was over. It was about 35 degrees today. (I know, I'm a wuss) .

I relocated my Gas filter to the other side of the frame rail. Need to buy a filter though. A bunch of dirty stuff drained out of it. Replaced a sway bar bushing. Made a heat shield to protect the transfer case actuator.

Punch list left to do.

Install Sequoia Cruise control switch.
Wrap up wire harnesses and install the interior.
Get AC hoses combined, installed and charged up.

Once it is running and driving, I will need to change the motor oil, tranny fluid, transfer and diff fluids. Hindsight. Should have drained the tranny when it was out, so I could drain it completely but oh well.

I can't wait to drive her.
 
Don't worry, I am in the same wuss wagon as you. Cold with high humidity sucks here in NC. I miss the days of 35 degrees in Montana and being able to wear a short sleeve shirt. But when it got to less than 10 degrees F there, that is cold.

We want video of the beast alive, or at least I do.

J/K - I'm originally from Illinois, and 35 for me is what I call 'sweatshirt weather.' Long as I've got one of those on, I can be outside for an hour or two if I'm just standing around; and indefinitely if I'm working hard. I can just sort of 'ignore' the cold.

This being said, yeah, if it gets to 10 or 20, that's cold. LOL
 
Work is kicking my butt. I get home and I am beat.

I still have to pick my AC line up and install it.

I removed the cruise switch but now have to wire the new one in.

Once the cruise is hooked up, I should be able to wrap up and tie strap everything to the dash.

Still need to install a new gas filter.

I will take it for a test drive this weekend.


I will have to break it in on Monday. I have to go pick up a trailer load of Hummvee (37") Tires from warehouse 1 hour away.
 
I am running a hybrid 4runner -sequoia exhaust. I am running everything into the stock 4runner exhaust.


I just 2 coils (denso) and a fuel filter to install...

Just saw this tonight

First time I have even looked in the 3rd Gen forum. Glad I did. Just went through all 26 pages in one sitting. I am on my third 4th Gen but my mother owns a 3rd gen so I thought I would just see what was going on in here.
Is there a way to avoid waiting for every page to load when clicking to the next one? Takes my computer about 40 seconds to get to the next page so I can start reading again.

It takes me about 3 seconds to load each page... Try running an speed test and see what speed you are getting compared to what you pay for.

Make sure you dont have any malware etc. if all else fails upgrade your RAM or buy a better computer or get a faster internet connection.
