V8 cracked exhaust manifold - How to tell if you have one?

I have an '08 V8, and was curious to know how you can tell if you have a cracked exhaust manifold. What are the signs or symptoms?

Is there something you can do to test?

My 4R seems slightly louder than it used to be, and since this is a known common problem, I thought I would ask how to check to see if I am affected by this issue.

I've become a good searcher while on this forum

FYI - I also had this cracked manifold issue on my old 03 Limited. It did get a little louder over time, but my trusted mechanic just said to keep driving it (replacing them can get pricey).
