V8 Limited with XREAS?

I'm looking to purchase a 4runner soon and want a V8 limited with XREAS.

I was told by the saleperson that he has never seen a V8 limited with XREAS. I know they exists as there are some people on here with exactly that. Is it true that they are hard to come by?

You may have to special order, but its possible to get. XREAS is an option on all limiteds.

If the dealers in your region don't feel like XREAS would be a popular option, they won't order any Limiteds with them which is why I'm guessing your salesman has never seen one. Your choices are probably to special order one or go to another region/state to find one.

I'm sure there will be some availible, and you dont need the rear air suspension to get XREAS.

Limited here in Canada come with XREAS as well as rear suspension.

Get a Sport Edition and add aftermarket leather for around $800, now you have the better wheels and the hood scoop and the larger front brakes and you saved around $4000. If you need Nav, buy it aftermarket, you will get a better unit for big savings. JMHO

PS- the after market leather is nicer and you can get it custom to your own taste. Most dealers have connections for adding the leather and can roll it into the auto loan.

That's a good idea and I've actually considered it....

But...there are many other luxuries that come with the limited that aren't available on the SE...power seats, vanity mirror lights, 115AC service, heated seats, leather inserts in the door panels.... and so on.

Those little items are worth the $4k extra to me.

Also, are you sure the SE has larger front brakes? I don't see reference to that anywhere.

Where in CA did you purchase your car? I was looking in the San Diego Kearny Mesa stealerships...

I bought my last Lexus at Longo instead of San Diego dealers...would be willing to do the same if I can get the options I want.

i bought a fully loaded limited just to be done with it and not try to piece anything together afterwards, time is money.

it's not even a matter of saving money by getting a lesser model and adding in stuff later, some options you get ONLY with the limited that you may not know about, most of which are not practical to add afterwards:

- dual zone climate control
- heated/power front seats
- granite trim
- leather panels
- illuminated running boards
- fiber optic illuminated instrument cluster needles (i love this feature!)
- auto on/off headlights
- backup camera (with nav, nice thing about stock nav is it's completely integrated with the steering wheel controls too..)
- leather shift knob


plus these which are standard on limited but options on others:

- rearseat audio
- double decker cargo with net
- homelink
- auto dimming rear view mirror
- 115v AC outlet

this is for the 03 model, 05 may have more. now if you don't care about having half of these features then it may be better to get a lesser model and add in the ones you actually want, but i wanted 90% of these things and just got the limited.

yeah, actually stevens creek toyota in san jose had a limited with xreas but it wasn't in the color i wanted. plus it was missing certain options, don't remember which...

Only for 2003 the LTD had the same brakes as the SR5. From 2004 onwards the LTD has the larger front brakes similar to the SE.

The SE comes with 13.4 inch front rotors, the limited and SR5's are something like 12.? inch. If you are really into the luxury items look at a used low mileage GX470. They often have the Xreas and some have the other stability system that is real nice. I forget what its called but it works with the stablizer bars.

As bulldog-yota tells it, looks like the brakes are a non issue for new 2005 limited 4runners. That would be a deal breaker as well...I drive rather hard and in the mountians with a full load, the added brake capacity is a must.

I've looked into the GX470 and while nice, it's too much of a good thing. Would hate to bring such a nice rig out on a ski trip...not saying the t4r limited is not...but more suited.


I agree with slowginjoe. Buy it and be done with it. I want ALL options. I just enjoy having my vehicles fully loaded.

I have been told by several dealers the to get a Limited with X-REAS on the west coast it has to be special ordered which will take 3-4 months. I have also had the dealer and factory rep look of one in the nearby states, with no luck. They were not able to locate one within the central to western US, this may just be because of the color I wanted. I have only seen them on the east coast.

Well if the brake rotor size is a deal breaker I would suggest you do more research before you buy. I bought my 2004 Sport in April of 2004 and in 2004 the Sport was the only one that had the bigger brakes. I have no idea if it changed in 2005??

I would hope the V8 in itself would justify toyota giving it the largest brakes they can offer. At any rate...did some searching and can't find anything different in brakes between any of the trims.

Easiest way is to go to the dealer and check the SE and limited in reallife.

I have the 03 LTD and James the 03 SE. IF I stick my ginger in the wheel I can feel the his has less space between the brake caliper and the inside of the wheel. Can get my finger in on mine, but it is not possible on his.

The reason why I say they swiched in 2004 is that a number of people couldn't fit 16" on 04 LTDs, while the 03 and SR5 had no issue.

Tec, I won't make this brake difference if there is one on the 2005's make any difference. I am sure they all will stop just fine. Sounds like it's going to be hard to find the 4runner you are looking for. Go ahead and order the one you want. Times a wasting.
