Recently in the cold weather I have begun to notice a squeal coming from the engine on my 03 V8. It goes away once the engine has warmed up. Sounds like a bearing as it changes pitch with engine rpm. Anyone else notice anything like this? Truck has 54k miles, seems early for any bearing or pulley issues. Thanks.

I would replace the serpentine belt. It takes all of five minutes. Once the belt is off, spin each pulley by hand and take notice of any pulley that feels like it has too much resistance. Of course the compressor and power steering pumps will have a completely different feel. There is no need to spin pump pulleys. The main culprits are the two idler pulleys/ and or the tensioner.
I replaced my belt at 60 k miles. The old one looked fine, but the belt is cheap (like $ 27)

I bought a Dayco serpentine belt (pn# 5060885). The ribs are broken non-continuous. This makes it quieter and more flexible (less stress on the belt). I will only use this type of belt. They last longer than the continuous groove type. Much better than the Toyota OEM belt. Goodyear also makes one called the Gatorback. Gates is another excellent belt company. All three companies make great belts. America has some great plastic and rubber companies.
