I have never had a supercharger before and it's very tempting to put one in my 03 4Runner. What kind of performance improvement do we expect to see? and what effect will we expect it to affect the longevity and durability of the V8 engine? (I'm sure it will shorten the life of engine somewhat, we just can't get something for nothing, right?)

with some of your questions I have to go with what TRD is telling me. I have personally had one of their superchargers on my 1MZ-FE (3.0L Camry) for around 15,000 miles with no problems at all. They said they have tested them beyond 200,000 miles and have had no added wear or engine component failures. They say HP increases to be around 118 for the V8, but that doesnt sound too realistic and its probably much less to the wheels. I have not drove a V8 4Runner yet with one of these but I did take out a V8 Land Cruiser, and all I can say is wow. The thing accelerated like a sports car, except you could lug yourself, 6 kids and groceries and still race kids in their hondas. TRD is very good to solve any problems you might have with any of their units. Just have it installed by a Toyota dealer, so if their is ever a problem they will be more likely to help you. I am waiting for a V8 4Runner and when it gets here I am going to put one of these on as soon as I can. Ever since driving that V8 Land Cruiser I am hooked.

I have not got mine yet, but I sold one to a guy in CA, as soon as he gets it and tests it im sure he will post here.

Warranty Issues??

If I purchased a TRD supercharger and had it installed by my local dealer, would my new car warranty be affected?

Sure would be nice to see a photo of a blown Toyota V8. Do you have a photo of the Landcruiser's engine bay?

Yes warranty is still in effect.
I didnt take a picture,
but just 5 Minutes ago, MY 2004 V8 4runner just ARRIVED!
I am going to get a supercharger as soon as possible!

Sorry to bring up a super old thread but are the TRD SC's for the 03+ V8 Runners that hard to find? I can only find things that are a few years old, nothing recent. Probably tells me something....hmm. Also saw something about rods snapping but i'm pretty sure pushing another 120+ HP couldnt of been that much strain on their rods. Ford use's crappy pressed powered metal to make their rods and they're good for around 350rwhp. unless you had a crappy tune for the Runner and beat on it.

Does anyone know where these could be located? A TRD dealership said it never existed. i guess people dreamed it up.

the s/c only work on non-vvti (which i believe you have.)

just start calling the dealerships or look online.

they've stopped making them, but i think you should be able to find one.
