Hi guys,
im new to toyota's as well as this forum. i have a 1995 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4x4 with the 3.0 v6 and the automatic. the truck has 230,000 miles on it and hasn't been driven in about two years. my previously daily driven dodge pickup grenaded its front axle and transfercase on a recent 4wheel outing so im driving a 1990 Jeep Cherokee now and i am disappointed with its performance offroad. in the past i had concidered doing a V8 swap and a solid axle conversion on the 4Runner but now im convinced i have to. the motor im planning on using is a built Chrysler 360 from a 1972 charger and thats mated to a built TF727/D20 from a 1974 scout, i had originally used this motor in a custom Cherokee with 30" of lift on a custom frame with chevy 1 tons and 42" super swampers. the jeep got totaled a while back when a friend rolled it. so now the motor and axles are out and i want to put them in the 4Runner. ive heard of alot of people swapping in a chevy 350 and once or twice using a ford 302 but ive never heard of anyone using a chrysler 360. my only reason for using it is because i already have it and know its strong. so i guess my question is what do you guys think of swapping in a chrysler 360? any one got any better ideas or tips or someone/someplace you could lead me to to get tech help?
