Vacuum Leak, I think...?

So here is the back story.

I work 5 miles from home, small town with light traffic and easy lights. I also travel seldom and it's typically on light traffic occasions.

Then I went to a lagre city for work; and may commute there daily, soon. So while waiting for the light over two light cycles my truck began to iddle rough. Turning off the air conditioning helped for about 45 seconds but then it just died. It started right back up and there is no cel. during the rest of the drive, I turned off the air as i coasted towards each light and during the next long light, as it began to idle rough again I just put it in park and kept the idle up. Got home with no further issues.

This rough idle has been for a while and I've turned off the air before; just never had it stall in city traffic before. I'm sure that you can see this becoming a HUGE problem if I begin to commute.

All of my experience points to a vacuum leak?? am I right? i opened the hood looking for the vacuum lines and found this coming right off of the top of the intake manifold. Thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Am I looking in the right direction?

Yeah, it's part of the EVAP system. Mine was cracked a lot more than that for a while and I had no problems. I eventually replaced it, but not because it was causing problems. That's my experience. Good luck.

From what you're describing, sounds like a vacuum leak to me too. But look around, that little crack in that hose doesn't look bad enough for it to be stalling IMO. There are a few lines running under the intake and on the underside of the throttle body.

I have to go through my truck and replace some as well. Just haven't had the time. I think I'm just going to buy a few rolls of various sized vacuum hose and just start replacing them all, cutting to length as I need it.

I was discussing this problem with a coworker at lunch and he suggested that the power assist brakes may also be a factor. Thats when it hit me!

I had, in fact, questioned if my brake pedal had drifted down further? Why yes, I think it had. There was no loss of brake performance during normal operation the truck didn't ease forward, but it was during that same event when I'd questioned this very issue. The feeling that the brake pressure (against my foot) was slightly fading.

So are the problems related as suggested; or are they two seperate vacuum systems with safety/check valves that isolate them?

Any thoughts are appreciated. I am experienced with vehicle maintenance but not so much with diagnostics. Booster assembly? or still some phantom leak?

so i have a 96 v6 3.4l 4runner and its making an odd whistling sound and i accelerate but only when i get in high rpms before i shift.... can anyone give me some suggestions on what might be the problem..

vacuum line problems PLEASE HELP!!

I have a 2002 4runner limited, recently did an ABS bypass switch so I could easily disengage the TRACTION control system. I am not am expert by any definition. Two days after doing this mod my check engine light came on and check the codes got the following; P0440 & P0441. Research told me that this is an Emissions Vacuum Line issue but was very vague.
Been searching all over but can't find an accurate diagram or even a picture. Told that its probably either a leak somewhere or a faulty vacuum line Valve. Searched everywhere I can think of and can't even find the charcoal box or vacuum line valve. Checked for any obvious leaks, breaks or tears and have had no luck. ANY suggestions, pictures of where these things are, diagrams or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

did you look on the inside of the hood for a vacuum diagram?
