Valances: Pro black vs. TRD Off Road silver

I will have a silver valance off a Trail/Off Road if anyone wants to buy it and paint so they can keep their stock part. I am cutting it out for my winch bumper.

There is an issue with 4Runners when driving through deep water fast. It will blow your valance right off. That's what happened to mine. So I replaced it with a black one. Mine was $194, now it is $213 from the same place.

I am sure you will find some black valances on Facebook Marketplace for those who took them off to replace with a hybrid bumper.

As much as I like the black on white stormtrooper look on my 2018 TRD ORP, I actually prefer the look of the silver valances especially when combined with the raw aluminum TRD Pro skid plate. It kind of looks all of one piece. To each their own!

I second this, if you want to save some $$. Problem with plasti-dipping the front is that from time to time rock chips mess up the dip and it becomes a pain to respray the whole thing. If you dip the rear, absent bottoming out the back or scratching it with something from the trunk, it should stay in good shape.

I swapped the front for the black valance. I plasti-dipped the rear.

LoL. I'll put my vote in for the vinyl wrap. I got a local shop to do them in a black satin type of color and have held up perfectly for 2 years now... Think I paid $200 Canuck Bucks in total.

Do I need to also purchase the 27 clips? Even if I have the silver valances? Can't I use the existing clips for the black valances?

yes, u can use the same clips, just be careful when removing them. Cheap enough on ebay if you need a few more.

I just got my 2020 OR premium last week and can't stand the silver. I sprung for the trd pro ones. ~390 shipped with new clips.

Plastidip is fine I just didn't want to have to redo it periodically, and vinyl wrap looks great until it gets chipped and the silver shows through.

I painted mine with the Rust-Oleum bedliner spray, which has a sandpaper texture, a matte finish and has been very durable so far.
