Valentine V1 mounting opinions

So I plan on hardwiring my V1 and want to mount it and came across this mounting kit on ebay. Should I stick with the suction cups or use the mounting kit? Let me know what you think. Thanks

I have a BlendMount for my ScanGaugeII with the gauge mounted on the top side of the rear view mirror and my V1 is mounted by suction cup to the upper edge of the windshield to the side of the rear view mirror. And unless your rear view mirror is REALLY big, the V1 will not look that small under the mirror. The V1 is definitely not small by any means... On the other hand, that mounting location would allow good angles for the radar detector to pick up signals.

So, I can't speak specifically about the V1 BlendMount, but their ScanGauge BlendMount is high quality stuff and easy to install. Personally, in my car, I would not install the V1 under the rear view mirror just because my rear view mirror itself already blocks some vision and I can't image mroe being blocked and having to look around it. But that is in a Crown Vic, not a T4R.

I got a V1 for my super fast motorcycle but put it in the rig for long trips. If "The Man" is watching me I want to be watching him. Here is my set up. I tuck the wires up nice and neat for the stealth look. With the sun strip you can't see it from outside.

If you look close you can see the velcro on the bottom - I use that and a strap to keep it in place on the bike. I have it hard wired on the bike and should do the same for the rig.

That is pretty much what I have in my car, except on the other side of the mirror. Still a direct shot to the V1 from front or rear with it mounted that high.

In my GTI and my Jetta I have it mounted on the passenger side right near the rearview. I wouldn't want it mounted to the mirror itself.

If you lower the mirror down, you'll have just enough room to put the V1 above it, suction cupped to the windshield. I then hardwired it into the power wires for the interior map lights.

Ive read that the sun strips can actually interfere with the detectors. Making them not as accurate??

That is true on some vehicles. Shoot, even the entire windshield of some Corvettes (and I assume other cars) have a covering on the windshield that interfers with radar detectors...
