value of 88 4runner excellent cond v6

I owned a nice 1 owner 150K mile '87 22re 5spd 4runner from 94-98 and put about 100k miles on it before I sold it. I did have to put a new exhaust, engine and tranny but I can do the work myself.

I am looking at another to replace it. I found a nice 120K mile v6 88 auto and it is in great condition. The guy is asking $4K and I may get it but I do not know much about the v6 or the auto.

I like the thought of more power because I have a little 6x10 trailer I pull my lawn mower with and since I am selling my big SUV I need something to pull with. I pulled the trailer no problem with the '87 22re.

Is the V6 reliable? Is the auto tranny reliable?

I think most people here are gona vote for the 4cyl. 5 speed combo. The 6 cyls. had a lot of head gasket probs. and with the auto tranny, fuel consumption is not gona be nothin' nice.
