Value of "broken" 4Runner?

I stumbled upon a local ad for a 4Runner...

1997 SR5 4x4 v6 Auto
155k
No locker
Blue in color
SR5 fender liners
Cloth interior
New parts such as brakes, radiator, springs, and shocks
Pretty clean for the year - a few dents and dings
Minimal rust

But... the head gasket is apparently leaking and will need to be swapped out. The guy said he is sure of it, but it does still run without overheating instantly - so could be driven to a shop or something.

What would YOU value this 4Runner at? I am thinking about looking into it as a side project - he is asking $3500.

Well I'm picking up a motor for 300 this weekend so it could be cheap but more then likely a pretty expensive fix to do it right. Better get it low.

And make sure pitbull rescuer chimes in. He'd be the first guy I'd ask about this as he seems to make a deal for broken runner every Saturday's

He is asking way more than what a dealer will offer for trade in.

Just for giggles I let the deal appraise my 02 4runner with a bad transmission.
They offered 2k. That's with trd s/c, 7th injector, header, and exhaust installed by them. Not to mention all the extras I had and only 120k miles.

Told them thanks gave them the middle finger and sourced a used transmission.

Wow thanks for the morning laugh. What a joke!
