Valve adjutments

Just wondering if anyone has had a valve adjustment done on the V8. I've just purchased a 2005 with a V8, 75k and it's got a bit of ticking going. I'm thinking valve adjustment. I'm not really comfortable pouring seafoam into the crankcase and brake booster as I have read some do here.

Anyone had a valve adjustment done? If so how much?

The V8 has hydraulic lifters and no adjustment should be necessary (and maybe not even possible, not sure). What you are probably hearing is the injectors firing. A normal noise in many vehicles with fuel injection.

Ticking is normal, it is especially evident when the hood is open. V8 is bulletproof man.

Why does the maintenance guide say to check valve clearance @ 60k?

Never ever heard of anyone actually doing that on the V8. Here or on other forums where the 2UZ-FE is a relevant engine.

Your fine - trust me unless your car has no records and think it was abused.

The 4.7 does not use hydralic lifters. The cam sets directly over the valves and the clearance is set using shims under the valve buckets. It requires the cams to be removed to set the clearance.
