valve chatter question.

I have some noisy valves. You know, They sound like a loud sewing machine! My question is, IF THE chatter goes unfixed, what damage will It cause? Also, how do you stop the valves from ticking?

Get them adjusted
Or put in a K&N filter with some thicker oil and some Lucas Oil additive
My are quiet NOW

Its just a quality filter. Dont buy cheap filters.

I rebuilt my 3.0 last winter and got the valves perfectly in spec and they still tick.

Valve ticking will be somewhat to quite a bit louder than injector pulse. Post a video of the sound and someone should be able to tell what yours is.

Older Toyota engines are pretty well known for their 'sewing machine' like valve noise, though I know it's mostly on the 4 cylinder engines...

TRUE!!!! i put a 22re out of an 86 in my truck and chaced that valve noise for about a week strait until someone told me it was normal sound for the 22's

when i put good quality gas in i hear a difference, the noise is alot less abusive sounding. maybe try getting some octane booster or just try the spendy gas and see if that makes a difference.
