Valve chatter, ticking

So I have purchased a 95 4runner that has plenty of minor issues that need addressed. I wont get into all of it, but was wondering if anybody had any experience with valve chatter. My valves seem to tick, when I step on the gas especially. From what I have read, this is normal chatter for older 3.0 liter runners. Will It harm the engine and how should I address the issue? Is it fixable, or do most people just live with it? Thanks.

It is adjustable, but it is a shim and bucket adjustment, not an easy diy adjustment unfortunately.
I have been quoted 6 hours for the tune up by my local dealer, who also mentioned a lot of people dont hear a difference.

If your clearance does get too tight you can burn a valve, and so it is recommended to get done, especially if one hole is louder than the next.
But if the whole engine sounds like that, I would leave it, because I dont have $900 to spare on a valve adjustment right now or any time soon.

But in high mileage oil, and some lucas oil stabilizer it may quiet down the engine as it did mine.

I have similiar noise on my 95 3.0. In another forum (Yodatech), someone said that it is common and may not be valve noise but the right side injectors. Supposedly the left side is shielded and doesn't make much noise, but the right side isn't, so it is much louder. Has anyone else heard of this explanation before?

My 93 has had the infamous 'tic' since I bought her in 2005. Kinda sounds like a lifter, but whatever it is doesn't affect the drivability. Haven't had any engine problems so I've learned to live with the tic (by turning up the stereo!).

The only big problem (at the time) was the big hose between the MAF and the Throttle Body developed a crack on the underside. Stopped the engine dead on the trail, and it just PFM (Pure F'n Magic) that I was able to duct tape it up and get her home. Replaced this piece, and she was back to normal operations again.
