Valve cover gasket

I have a 1999 4Runner limited 4wd with the v6 engine. The valve cover on the passenger side has developed a leak. Is this a big job to replace? Does the intake plenum have to be removed?

I'ts a 20 min job on the passenger side, 2 hours for the driver's side. lol

You have to take the intake plenum off for the driver's side.

Had the same problem. Cost $800+ to have the valve cover gasket replaced. Below are some youtube videos I found of valve cover replacement for a 4R with a 3.0 V6. Part 1&2.

the 3.4's are way easier to work on then the 3.slows though, not a hard job, just takes time

I personally did this my self i think its cost me around 200 or so but i change the plugs while i was in there too so, yeah its a big pain in the butt, because the way 4runner engine is designed, you have to take off TB, drain some coolant, disconnect some cables, air hoses, intake, coil pack, even then its a tight squeeze to get the covers out, make sure to put some silicon on the edge of the valve cover while you at it just to make sure. good luck.
