Did your check engine light come on as well. The VSC off and trac off lights come on when the CEL comes on because the system disables them to reduce load on the engine while it is running with less than optimal efficiency. Alternatively, did you in advertently lock the center diff?

You would symbol that looks like this if you did

/-/

The switch for it is near your left knee and has the same symbol - you should not be driving with it engaged on drive pavement.

If your MIL is on as well as the VSC & TRAC lights, did you let your battery get too low?
Some of the older ('03-'05ish IIRC) ECM's in the 4Runners lose their Zero-Point Calibration if the battery drops too low.

The same thing happened to me on a road trip last week. My check engine light did come on, along with the VSC off lights. I installed a Volant CAI and the MAF was experiencing problems. This tripped the lights.

Mine comes on (during super cold weather) and magically goes away a bit later. It also goes away when I plug in the ODO device to look for a code but always comes up with no codes.

Would this be a indicator to replace the battery?

The most common cause of this is that the gas cap is not on tightly. When the check engine light comes on all the other lights come on to get your attention.

You sure it was the Volant, not your gas cap, or any of the other symptoms that cause these lights to go on? The only reason I ask is because I haven't seen anyone else have this happen from installing their Volant. And from what I recall the guy who installed it for you said "My mechanic installed it and said he had to "modify" the MAF." So if it was from the Volant, I am thinking it was caused by the installation not the unit itself. You never replied to your original post on the problem.
