Vegas heat trying to kill my truck

So I just had the motor replaced by Toyota. I had them replace the water pump and thermostat while they were in there. Yesterday, my truck didnt get hot but it did blow the little coolant hose coming from the throttle body. So I replaced that. Today on my way home from work, I have the AC on and the truck starts getting hot, so I turned on the heater full blast and got off the freeway. I shut her down and let her sit for 30 minutes. Checked temp, she was cool so I started her up and drive the last 4 minutes home. As I'm pulling in she's starts getting hot again. So I shut her down and coasted into the driveway. My question is what's wrong? Fan clutch is good, when i stick a newspaper in the fan its doesnt stop. Brand new thermostat, head gasket and water pump. The only thing I can think of is the radiator. Any other well known issues you all might know of.

Could be air in the cooling system.

could be air in the system, maybe i didn't bleed it enough yesterday. i think it might be my radiator honestly. it is pretty old. is there a temperature sender that kicks the auxiliary fan on? i know on my old scion and even my bmw if it was hot the fan would stay on after i turned them off. once they got down to a certain temp the fan would stop. on my truck when i shut her off the fan shuts off. is that normal?

UPDATE

swapped out the radiator tonight. bled the system again. on the way home overheated. am i just a dumb arse who can't bleed the system?

Maybe.

Jack the front end up as high as you can get it and let the truck run for a bit. Also pull the radiator cap and watch the fluid levels while the truck is idling, see if there's any bubbles or change in fluid level.

You're not losing coolant, right? No oil in the radiator or coolant in the oil?

Did you swap in a new radiator? I needed a radiator once, pulled one from a junk yard and that P.O.S was bad also.

It doesnt seem like im losing coolant. Both levels are good in the tank and the radiator. no visible leaks under the truck or under the hood. No oil in coolant or vice versa. It's a brand new radiator I never use old parts for replacement parts, unless its for the body or interior.

UPDATE

took my car to a mechanic friend of mine last night we tried to bleed the system but couldn't get the thermostat to open. we tried for almost 2 hours. so its definitely the oem thermostat. today on the way to work, the truck did not get hot at all but it blew up my brand new radiator, the top plastic portion has a giant split in it and threw coolant everywhere. its over at toyota now. it has to be the thermostat. there is way too much pressure! I'm just worried toyota is going to give me the run around and tell me its because of the aftermarket water pump i had them put in and I'm s.o.l. should i be worried?

I'm gonna go with defective radiator, not defective water pump. I don't see any way a water pump could generate pressure enough to blow open a radiator, and even it if could the lines should have blown first. Warranty that radiator and buy one that isn't made of plastic.

I dont see how it could be a radiator issue. He had issue with old one then the new one. Definetly get a new thermostat in and see if that helps anything.

Right, obviously the defective thermostat is his original problem. But a good radiator doesn't just blow up no matter how defective your thermostat or water pump might be. Head gaskets go before radiators blow up. The radiator he put in was defective.

Toyota just called and said its a defective radiator. they want to charge me $125 for diagnosis. any monkey can see that the radiator is bad. there is a huge split right in the top. they haven't diagnosed anything in my eyes. they haven't even told me what the problem is. I'm done with this dealership. when they had my truck for the motor work i never heard from them. i always had to call them. the service advisor would never answer. when he would call me back he would just tell me the truck should be done tomorrow. when they hadn't even got parts in and they hadn't even started putting my motor back together. I'm over it I'm going to go pick my truck up, pull the thermostat out completely, put it back together and toss in my warrantied radiator. hopefully that'll fix it.

Ok so now I have a new radiator, thermostat, water pump, hoses, and coolant output cover. Put the coolant in an bled the system to the best of my knowledge.

The problem is it doesn't overheat at idle. If I drive it around the block once it warms up it overheats. Could it be the head gasket went already? No coolant in the oil. The oil still looks like new. No milky or cloudiness in the oil at all. I can't seem to figure this out and I've spent all week trying to get it fixed. Should I take it back to Toyota and let them figure it out?

Solved! Took it to a different dealership this time. They tore into my truck and found that the aftermarket water pump actually failed!

Go figure! I would've never guessed it because it was only 2 weeks old. Dangit oh well fixed with an oem now and runs great!

Glad you figured it out. Always use OEM parts for major important parts. Buy always from the dealer or AISIN products.
