The idea of the "next news session" doesn't exist any longer. Hasn't for many years and they'd be irrelevant if they worked that way. Breaking news in real time is the only way they can operate.....albeit some organizations with journalistic integrity will lose out on being first or second to break in order to confirm facts or at least that X did indeed happen. Until they have all the facts they roll with what they are hearing or what "may" be happening. Too many people hear this and turn it into fact in their own small brains even when a report or reporter may say over and over again that it is yet to be confirmed. The consumers reaction and commonly an inability to truly listen and understand before they take to influencing their friends and family on Facebook is most often the issue here.

Girlfriend is from the Philippines and just as likely Christian...lets cut her some slack until proven otherwise. I have asked why a deposit of 10K in my bank draws automatic FBI scrutiny, but buying 33 guns in less than a year doesn't prompt any government review at their end, like a social media check for any sign of instability or threatening posts? If some are found a ''visit'' to make personal contact may be warranted?

This just shows how uninformed you are. Multiple purchases of handguns and rifles DOES currently draw attention and sometimes investigations and visits from the ATF.

Buy 2 handguns or 2 rifles at a time and it adds your name to a special list with the ATF.

They're trying to find potential gun runners. Which is funny since the ATF runs illegal Guns- fast and furious anyone?

It's all pretty stupid. Anyone who wants to do harm to someone else will do it, they will find a way. Doesn't matter if they have 2 or 200 guns.

The laws about scrutiny for $9,600.00 or more in cash being deposited or found In your possession is also a bunch of crap. Total overstep by the government.

You all should be focused on the murderer, not his tools. If Guns were the real problem we'd have millions of gun deaths a year, literally- because we have mOre guns in the nation than we do people.

Outlawing a piece of plastic (slide fire or bump fire stocks) is not going to stop evil people from dOing evil things. Nor would outlawing anything for that matter. Murder is already illegal, shooting someone other than in self defense is already illegal- it doesn't matter.

He likely would have done much more damage and had more deaths if he took deliberate aim at his intended targets. Spray and pray is big in Hollywood though and that's the perception and understanding that most people have, freaking make believe BS...

Mental health discussion is so hard for people to have so let's just keep trying to ban inanimate objects instead and the problem won't go away but you folks can say you did "something".

Not the right thing or even a very well thought out thing, just "something".

Look at the attacks in Nice, France. Gun control central, yet two dudes got fully auto AK's and killed over 135 people including police officers who were armed with batons and handcuffs, but not guns.

You can ban anything you like and it only affects the law abiding citizen. Not the criminal or madman who will do whatever they want with anything they want anyways.

5) What do you think the average rate of fire for a full auto M4 versus a semi auto M4 versus a bump fire equipped M4 is? Assume an individual who has some training and familiarity with these rifles.

I would love to ask gun haters this question.

I've seen people online justify gun bans because of "increasing firearms technologies" but I'm pretty sure the AR-15 or AR-15-like guns have been in the hands of civilians for a while now...

A gun only shoots what a person aims at, it doesn't aim for you and it doesn't make you pull the trigger.

I would say gun restrictions would have no effect on stopping things like this.

The rate of shootings or number of people killed? Is "mass" more than one?

I have fired a gun. I own a gun. I have fired a semi auto M4. I have not fired a full auto M4. I am definitely never going to be a marksman.

I would assume (trouble right there) that an experienced individual could mimic the bump with a semi automatic.

no. If someone wants to do something bad enough they will find a way to do it. I actually personally fear a truck being used as a weapon more than a gun being used as a weapon. the kinetic energy of a 20 ton vehicle traveling 50 mph is a lot more than a bullet traveling at 1000 fps.

Depends on your data points, overall I'd say the answer is yes but poplulation and access to weapons is also on the rise.

No, by sheer body count I'd say yes but I have a hard time overlooking Columbine because it was kids.

No, as a gun enthusiast I would never buy a bumpfire stock and most wouldn't...the asshat that did this would have found a way to show the world he was nuts.

Bumpfire stocks suck. I was trained by the US Govt. and have fired the real deal and most don't use full auto for anything other than suppression.

Again, most don't use full auto as most trained individuals understand the implications to accuracy, heat, etc.

You can't stop crazy...people with enough focus will find a way. While I do feel that 33 rifles in a year might be a trigger that might warrant attention...you can't balance freedom with crazy.

You can...it is within YOUR rights to do what you want. Please do. I hear forks are extremely effective against bears, tigers, and elephants. But you may have to walk to hunting site since we should ban cars and vans too.

I don't think it is actually, he's Canadian...he'd rather rest comfortably in the fact that nobody will mess with Canada because they're next to us.
 
I find it comical that the police are saying he calculated bullet drop on a notepad found in the suite as though that allowed Him to increase the kills through accuracy. It is clear he had little aim involved beyond just ''unloading'' in the general direction of 22 thousand helpless souls packed in a small space. I have used full auto with 9,10, .223 and .308 and you simply can't maintain accuracy for more than a few rounds.....forget it completely with .308. While the number of guns in the room is mentioned repeatedly, the fact is He could only fire one at a time. Some form of mental illness or break with reality has to be a factor.....or He simply hid the fact he was a Monster very well. He may well be the catalyst for more of My gun Rights being taken away......A**hole!
