I realize that this is a SOCAL thread and not Nevada.
I figured it's close enough that people here may have some info.

Heading out to Vegas for a bachelor party soon and was thinking of taking my Truck, does anyone know of any mild off areas not too far from the strip?

I wouldn't go 4wheeling solo in 105+ F heat. That would be a bad plan. If your truck breaks down you might very well die. Not kidding dude.

Apparently this week it is only 105-110F but sometimes it gets up to 115F out there.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area just West of LV. As was mentioned the heat is no bueno, but this is a pretty popular spot (admittedly I've never been late summer/early fall). Off the main road is Rocky Gap Rd which is a fire road (AFAIK). When I went a few years back I came across several other people back there. If you've never been, it's great with plenty of hiking and rock scrambling when the weather is good.

According to Wunderground temps are expected in the low to mid 90's for the next week and last year this time the weather was similar so it may be worth a look.
 
The Mojave Preserve was nice last January, too hot now.

Thanks, will have to reference this in the future. My buddy ended up renting a van, so we are going to do that, I guess getting stuck in 90 degree weather on a bach weekend is not a great idea :)

Bob - I want to run this route with you one of these days, including death valley.

What part of MNP is that? Is that Mojave Road/Cedar Canyon Road?
Your pic makes me want head back there, lots to see.

Started at Kelso Depot, took Kelso Cima Rd to Cedar Canyon then Cedar Canyon going east to Black Canyon south. Then West on Wild Horse Canyon Road. This was at the beginning of Wild Horse Canyon Road.

Took Wild Horse Canyon Road loop south to end at Black Canyon Road and Hole in the Wall.

All easy roads, but still gave me a good dirt fix for the day.
