Vehicle Computer Presets - door locks

I was able to do this with my last vehicle ('07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited) so was curious if it was possible with my 97 4Runner.

Some of the presets are a little annoying. One in particular is that when I shut the vehicle off, only the driver door unlocks. It would be nice for all doors to unlock.

Is there a list somewhere that discusses how to manipulate these kind of presets?

Interesting that only one door unlocks. My 98 unlocks all 4 doors. I know on an aftermakret alarm you can change that setting. I would actually prefer to only unlock drivers door since I am usually by myself. If getting out in a questionable area having the other doors unlock gives them more points of entry to try to jack me. Not that I am in those areas often or that I am a target for this type of activity.

Yeah mine only does the driver. Kind of a pain cause I always gotta get into another door. I dont have the remote entry fob, and the passenger side lock cyllander doesnt unlock from the outside. Long story short, it has been a pain.

I found these for a 2001-2004 Taco's. Don't know if they would work on 4runner. Haven't tried them yet on mine.

That would be a pain , my 98 unlocks all 4 as well .

Ithink it may have a securikey alarm installed from the factory......has the little red led light left of steering wheel. Not sure if that would change things.

Confirmed I do have a SecuriKey+ system, although I do not have any of the FOB's.

After some digging I came up with this from the SecuriKey+ manual:

Pg. 11

2. The driver's door will unlock immediately when the ignition is turned to the off position. (for Previa, all doors will unlock when the ignition key is turned to the off position.) NOTE: this is a programmable feature that can be turned off by your dealer.

Why would the Previa work the way I want it to and not the 4Runner....

I will continue to research.

The specific issue with the OP was directly related to "Feature 5" under "Programming the selectable features". However, since i do not have the Securikey+ FOB, I am pretty much S.O.L.

Oh well. I guess if i run into a cheap fob somwhere, or decide to put an aftermarket in, i might be able to control it then.

Thanks, these are the instructions I've been looking for, thought I would just post them here from TRDOffroad.com in case they disappear...

Setting Your Door Locks to Lock/Unlock Automatically

Whenever the key is turned on, the doors will automatically lock, and will unlock when the key is turned back to lock position.

You will have to complete these steps within 30 seconds for the programming to work:

-Open the Drivers's Door
-Remove Key From Ignition (Out)
-Insert Key Into Ignition (In)
-Close the Driver's Door Twice--Remember, it should be open! (Close, Open, Close, Open)
-Turn the Key from Lock to On 5 Times (Lock, On, Lock, On, Lock, On, Lock, On, Lock, On)

-Finally close the driver's door and turn the ignition key to 'Lock'. Your locks should now be automatic. If they are not, try again. To reverse this programming simply close the drivers door twice (Close, Open, Close), and leave it closed in the last step.
