So I decided to plastidip my wheels and took some pictures to post on here.

Got him off the ground, and I only had 2 jack stands so I was only able to dip two wheels at a time. Shoutout to Spidertrax for those gorgeous blue spacers : P

<a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/user/Elie_Younes/media/IMG_2723_zps1cdcdeaa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Elie_Younes/IMG_2723_zps1cdcdeaa.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2723_zps1cdcdeaa.jpg"/></a>

Windex-ing each wheels and making sure no oil was on the rim.

<a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/user/Elie_Younes/media/IMG_2719_zps631c7996.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Elie_Younes/IMG_2719_zps631c7996.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2719_zps631c7996.jpg"/></a>

First coat. I didn't bother taping off my sidewall. Thankfully I was able to peel the overspray right off.

<a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/user/Elie_Younes/media/IMG_2721_zps7414673a.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Elie_Younes/IMG_2721_zps7414673a.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2721_zps7414673a.jpg"/></a>

Around my third coat. getting inside the lug wells was a bit of a pain haha. I wound up doing 2 light coats that left about 50% transparency so I could get the material on the metal. then i did about 4 regular coats. I left about 10-15 minutes between coats. After I finished the front 2 wheels I bolted em back and moved my jack stands to the rear and repeated.

<a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/user/Elie_Younes/media/IMG_2728_zpsf06cf39d.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Elie_Younes/IMG_2728_zpsf06cf39d.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2728_zpsf06cf39d.jpg"/></a>

Did the center caps as well. I didn't dip the lug nuts just because I felt like the dip wouldn't stay on after I bolted them on. I did 2 light coats, 4 regular coats, and decided to give them 2 coats of glossifier just to make them a little bit different.

<a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/user/Elie_Younes/media/IMG_2734_zps60f2309e.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Elie_Younes/IMG_2734_zps60f2309e.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2734_zps60f2309e.jpg"/></a>

Bolted back on the car. I'm happy how it turned out. I was gonna do the badges too but i did not have any exacto's to cut out around and inside some of the letters. Maybe next weekend haha.

<a href="http://s100.photobucket.com/user/Elie_Younes/media/IMG_2735_zpsc48d8787.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m27/Elie_Younes/IMG_2735_zpsc48d8787.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2735_zpsc48d8787.jpg"/></a>

Close up of the wheel after I gave him a quick rinsing.

Fun way to spend a few hours haha.

consider this one vote for you to plastidip your door handles to match the wheels. they look great!

I haven't used PlastiDip before; is it durable enough to be used on something like a door handle? I want to do my wheels because they've got the Toyota peeling issue going on and I like the black on black look, anyway.

To the OP: nice work, your rig looks pretty good with the black wheels.

Thank you. An Plastidip is pretty durable as far as that goes. As long as you have a smooth coat and you take care of it after the 3 day curing period, You should be fine. It dries to the touch in about 15-20 minutes depending. And as long as you don't start peellng up edges, you should be fine. Once figure out how to get my door handles off, I'll be doing it and am probably gonna make another writeup

I just did my wheels and emblems. Use plenty if coats like 5-6 on the emblems and the stuff will peel off the paint but the emblems will stay on. For the space in between the letters use a tooth pick to get it out.

Cool stuff. I actually have 4 cans sitting in the garage and was going to do this tomorrow. Would 4 cans be enough or should I grab a couple more? Im going with mate so no glossifier for me. Also thinking of painting the Toyota emblem on the center hub red. I personally like the chrome lugs. Breaks up the black a bit. Im also going to do the emblems as they are peeling anyway.

Wouldn't that take the rest of the emblem with it? I know if there isn't a break in the dip its been known to do that

Dude i only used 2 cans of dip here haha. but I did run out on my first can and was running low on he second at the end, so I'd say you're more than safe.

Do you have a write up on your particular version of the Satoshi grill? Sorry to get off topic. I have an SR5 with the pesky chrome all over as well. I was gonna do the Satoshi grill and paint the chrome, however, your's doesn't look too bad. Plus, I like the type of mesh or metal you choose. Thanks in advance.

Btw, the wheels look great! and yes, definitely do the emblems and handles as well. That will be part of my plasti-dipping as well.

I don't have a writeup currently up, I honestly followed one of the other guide on here and just did my own paint scheme haha. However i do have some old pictures in my phone of when I did do the grill and the mesh I used is right here CCG Universal 16" x 48" Perf Hexagon Aluminum Grill Mesh Sheet Black Powder Coat | eBay.

If I can dig up the photos, I'll link em in another post here.

I took y'all's advice...

These are just a few follow up photos of the door handles and the emblems. I got rained out so I was stuck in the garage this time and was only able to get one photo of the driver's side. The rest of the photos are of the passenger side. So, just imagine the driver side to be roughly the same haha.

First coat.

I thought this was too close to the emblem, but it turned out fine thankfully.

First handle done.

OKAY this, this is where it got awkward. I originally intended to have that large piece dipped as well, however, I went inside to grab a bite bite and came back to me seeing that I absolutely ruined the keyhole side. So I peeled off what i could, and cleaned off any wet residue with some degreaser. (shoutout to Brakleen)

Emblems and handles are done now. Still wish the trunk release trim peice had worked out :'( maybe next weekend.

PS, I apologize for the terrible camera work, I had a bit more going on as i was doing this than yesterday so I apologize if i missed anything. I'll try to get a fill shot whenever Birmingham decides to get some sunlight.
