Vibrating/Noise when gas pedal is depressed...

Has anyone had this problem before?
Does anyone know what is causing this vibration/noise?

Basically what happens is, after about 50-60mph on the highway....when I let go the gas paddle, there is a heavy vibrating feel and noise coming from under neath the car(under the seats, where you can even feel it sitting down).

I was able to rule out that it has nothing to do with the transmission by switching the gear into Neutral. Also ruled out that it was the engine, by turning the engine off during driving (mechanic did this part). I had the mechanic take a look at the drive shaft under the car, and he lubed it up, and i did wheel balancing. Mechanic saw no problem with anything else that could be a problem......I am on the verge of going to a 2nd mechanic to get a 2nd opinion, but wanted to run it by you guys before i go...

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I would think that if it is not in the engine and tranny that it almost has to be in the drivetrain somewhere.

I would take to another shop.

My guess is its the tranny or the drivetrain.

I have the same thing going on and cant find the source either.. Did you find out what is making the noise? Help anyone..

How do the CV boots look? You can also inspect the drive shafts for a missing weight (a clean rectangular mark)

check the driveshaft. your u joints could be bad. it also could be a timing chain problem. just swapped and engine with those symptoms because the plastic guide got eaten away (we found the remains in the oil pan) and the chain was loose.

Check your u-joints first. That was what was wrong with mine when I had the exact same prob.

Try looking at your tie rod ends. If they are gone, either on the inside or the outside, an alignment with the toe out of spec by .25 degrees will have a vibration. When he lets off of the gas, it loads up the front end, putting more weight on the tie rods and the ball joints. Check those too. Also check if the tires are worn considerably. As in suspension wear.
