So from 65-75mph, I can either let my foot off the gas completely, or let it off about 3/4ths (just a TAD of gas) and there is a pretty strong vibration. It feels like it's driveshaft-related, for sure. I got under there and greased the U-joints, and noticed the front section of the rear driveshaft has a double cardan joint. I've read that these are not rebuildable / replaceable. I do not want to remove my rear driveshaft and replace the one U-joint that I can (which is the rear one on the differential side, correct?) and not fix the problem. I was hoping greasing would fix it, but it did not. When I am acceleration, I do not feel this vibration.
Also, this could be unrelated OR not.. but a few times when I am downshifting, most noticeably from 4th to 3rd (manual transmission), before going through a corner, there will be a click-click-click noise when releasing the clutch. If I hear it, then I can try to replicate it immediately again and it won't happen. It's not every time, and there's no slipping / other bad clutch symptoms. I'm actually hoping it's something rattling or vibrating. I cannot replicate it if I want to - it just happens randomly.
A few times when I have been in gear, slowing down, I have heard a click-click from the back of the car. Sounds like it's coming from the rear driveshaft or rear differential. I am 99% sure my differential fluid is full, as I filled it right after getting the 4Runner with Amsoil Severe-Gear oil. Could this be the U-joint making itself noticeable at lower speeds?
