vibration driving me ****ing nuts !!

hey guys, started my vibration probs in an older thread but now im gona start over, 99 4r 140k, started to feel vibration in the rear bout a wk ago, so i carry it to the yota dealer, they say the rear u joint was bad so i had them replace the rear u joint and front u joint, still felt the vibration, then i had a mechanic at a local shop look at the rear end and he said everything looked ok, so then i carry it to get the tires balanced on the hunter balancing machine, and the dealer tells me my tires could be the prob, the tires had 51k on them and they didnt have alot of tread left so i replaced the tires this morn with brand new tires and the 4r does ride a little better but i still the vibration, its really bad at 50 mph and up, gona get it aligned fri, if that doesnt help any, what do i do next ?

steering rack bushings
tie rod ends
ball joints

i recently had this problem and it drove me nuts i did the TRE's, upper and lower BJ's and a new suspension then alignment and now it rides like a dream super smooth 65 is a nice cruising speed now. I do still have to do the steering rack bushings as mine definitely have some play. Good luck i do not wish the shakey truck problem on anyone because all you can do is throw money at it till it goes aways.

the mechanic that looked at the rear of the 4r did tell me that i needed new shocks, could old shocks cause this vibration ?

Have the driveshaft balanced, even if they did it when the u-joints were replaced. After the 2nd balance my vibration was 90% better. Dont think its ever gonna be 100%.

yota dealership did the u joints and i know they didnt balance the driveshaft, next step will be to have that done, whats the price to get the driveline balanced?

got the alignment done today and im still vibrating at 50mph and above, seems to me the vibration is coming from the rear, but i can feel it in the floorboard also, no shimmy at all in the steering wheel, any thoughts on what to look at now, ( recently i have put new tires, new u joints, balance on the hunter machine, and the alignment today)

I had rear-end vibration on a 1990 Gen-2 and replacing the rear drive shaft, with a used part, cured it. The shaft was ever so slightly bent and that was enough to have the whole floor vibrate. I could not pinpoint any event that could have resulted in a bent shaft..heck it didnt even leave the pavement in the weeks preceding the onset of the vibes. It just kind of happened.

I'm also fighting vibration issues.

I just picked up a used driveshaft from carpart.com for $120. The used drive shaft has helped quite a bit, but my vibration/rumble is still there.

I know this DS sat for ~10 years in the yard, I may try to replace the u-joints to see if that helps, they were pretty dry when I got it.

Take your DS out and drive around in 4WD and see if the vibration goes away. Could be another clue to solving your issue.

Mine has done the same thing for over a year...replaced the rotors, still did it. Next step is to align. Then I have no idea.

My steering wheel has a little bit of play in it...but it doesn't shake unless I am going down a hill and brake...then it is crazy...or if I am going 70mph or more then it will shake more than usual.

120$ seems in the right ball park to me.

I remember doing the U-joints around that time too but I canna' remember if the vibes started after replacing the joints or if I did everything in one go because of the shaking... That was 6 years ago so the details are getting fuzzy.
