I know this is about a year old but I'm having the same vibration on deceleration. Just had third member rebuilt and new u joints installed....

The problems I'm having seem to be common among 3rd gen 4runners.
I have a long story about trying to figure out what was causing what seems to be more than one source of vibrations and rumbles coming from underneath mine. It is an 01 SR5 2wd that I have had about a year. 115000 miles.
First problem was a clicking coming from the rear end. I replaced the U joints, and the clicking was still there, but now I also had a vibration starting at about 60 mph and continued to as fast as you were willing to go. It also produced a low rumble sound. i call it the 60mph+ Rumble.
Bought another used 3rd member and put it in. No clicking but still had the 60mph+ rumble/vibration.
Had the drive shaft balanced that didn't make any difference.
Bought another used driveshaft.. Seemed to help the rumble a good bit.
Put some new OME springs and shocks all the way around raising slightly (about 1 1/2" above where it was sitting. I figured there was some sag, so don't know what actual lift above factory really is)
Now noticed a slight vibration/rumble just when letting of the gas and only lasts a few seconds when I do this. Notice it above about 20 mph.
So, I thought that maybe the U joints in drive shaft #2 where bad even though they felt pretty good. Replaced them being extremely careful not to bang on the yokes as I did the first go round. I pressed them out an the new ones in. I also payed attention to the alignment of everything. The freaking 60mph+ rumble was back again.
SO, bought a complete used rear end (drum to drum) as well as another drive shaft. This solved the 60mph+ rumble, BUT now I hear and feel vibration/rumble when letting of the gas as before. it only lasts a few seconds or during a period I describe as negative or 0 acceleration... just coasting sort of.
I have spent a significant amount of time and money, but refuse to be defeated by this. I have read a lot of forums and see all kinds of possible reasons. I do know that the driveshafts are extremely sensitive. I feel that mishandling the older shafts may dislodge the rubber spacers within them someway that throws them way out of round or out of balance. Sometimes you're lucky working on them and sometimes not. I called a local auto repair shop to see if he could install u-joints. He said yes but would not touch Toyota. He said you can never get them right!
Now, I think there are only a few possibilities causing the Off the gas vibration.
1. The output bushing in the tranny but I don't have any leaks around it.
2. Something within the tranny going bad?
3. The angle of the drive shaft because of the slight lift? If this is this case, I should be able to load the rear down to where it was before and test?
4. The backlash is off in the 3rd member (I feel unlikely as this has been swapped)
Any suggestions are appreciated. I will update when I finally figure it out!

If this is this case, I should be able to load the rear down to where it was before and test? - check this angle, with the lift it will change, check to make sure your leaf spring u bolts are torqued and the shackle bolts are tight but not to the point the can not pivot.

Hum, I think I may have posted in the wrong forum.. I didn't notice this is Classic T4Rs.. very sorry. When it was suggested that I check my leaf springs, I knew something was up. Mine is a 3rd gen.
