Vibration noise (Driving me crazy)

Hi this is my first time here and am really injoying it. For a year know my 97 runner V6 has had a vibration noise. The truck does not vibrate but something is making a hell of alot of noise. It happens when i excelerate and only 80% of the time. I have now removed the running boards and it only happens about 10% of the time. Anyone have any thoughts. I think next I am going to remove the lower heatsheilds. Help Thanks

Hard to give any thoughts without some more detail on the symptoms. Does it happen on all types of road surfaces? Have you listened with the windows rolled down to try to get a better bearing on where it is? Heavy acceleration or light acceleration or both? etc.

Any further details would help.

This is a tough one.

Since the noise is related to the acceleration, and you describe it as a vibration, it sounds more like something in the engine.

You should be able to take the shield off the converter, but since I haven't done it personally, I can't tell for sure. If you try, of course you'll wait until it is cool so you don't burn yourself.

Certainly, this isn't much help to you.....
