yea theres a few dealers that are a lot closer, but i figure i deal with them,just in case they cant fix the problem-then perhaps the lemon law takes effect, what is it, 3 times you bring it back and they dont fix it?

It varies by state, but regardless it needs to be a more major problem to be covered under any states lemon law, a problem with the tires does not mean your cars a lemon (in the states eyes), short, I wouldnt be counting on that

You bought a brand new car, they should fix it, its disappointing that they didnt seem eager to help you with the issue and really sad that they told you that is normal, because its not.

I'm just hoping once the tires are replaced, the problem is solved. Didnt the older 4runners come with michelins? I would hope by next weekend the issue is solved.

Michelins or Dunlops. Mine came with Dunlops. After 30k or so, I replaced them with Michelin CrossTerrains.

The dealer called me today and told me that they had the car on a mercedes high speed balance machine, and even after that, the vibrations at the highway speeds are still there. They were going to test drive the same exact car I had later on to see if there was any difference between the 4runners, but they acknowledged the fact there is still a shimmy that doesnt go away. Just waiting to see what happens next!

No vibrations for the first 5,000miles but when I did the first service I noticed a vibration, I believe it was a rear tire and I did not feel it until I put the tire front. When I went to the dealership they balanced all 4 no questions asked.

Hey it's just the tires out of balance. I have a small vibration also but can only be felt on a very smooth and flat road. I have a limited with bridgestones. My tires have a ton of weight stuck to rims and that right their speaks to the quality of the tires. I plan on changing mines to michelin ltx m/s 275/55/20 .:ybrick:

just curious, you put 275's on your stock 20 inch limited wheels? How on earth did that tire dealer allow you to do that? The rim width supposedly is 7 inchs, and most rims need to be atleast 8 inches wide for that width tire. could you post a pic of this tire on your rim

dealer put the michelin ltxs on the truck-night and day difference- i reccomend them for everybody!!!!!!!!

just curious, you put 275's on your stock 20 inch limited wheels? How on earth did that tire dealer allow you to do that? The rim width supposedly is 7 inchs, and most rims need to be atleast 8 inches wide for that width tire. could you post a pic of this tire on your rim

I don't have 275's on you just misread my post. I don't think there is any tires that will fit these rims other then what they came with.Sucks that Toyota put on 7 inch rims which rules out putting on any a/t tires.If I can't find any tires that will work I'll start looking for some different rims.

To those who will read this thread, don't automatically think it is a balancing problem. Check the Air pressure in your tires first. I have the Dunlaps, and from the Dealer, had a vibration at 60 to 65, but after the dealer checked the balance and said it was OK, I went to local tire store and they discovered that the 32 lbs requried pressure was at 28 lbs. Once I filled the tires to about 35 lbs, no more vibration. Since these tires are a bit oversized for the wheels...tall sidewalls, make ure you have proper air pressure.

I bought my 4Runner SR5 on 1 Jan 10. I noticed right away the steering wheel vibrating at around 65 MPH. The dealer rotated and balanced the tires but I still get vibrations sometimes at about 65 MPH. The problem is that it is not consistent. Sometimes it vibrates at 65 and sometimes not. Could it be the road surface???? I am perplexed.

the POS dunlops came with my 17s and had a vibration between 55 and 65. i never took it to the dealer cuz i was going to swap for 20's or upgrade the tires. i swapped mine for 20s with the yoko's the other day and the problem is gone.

my 2012 Trail had the same issues, had the dealer road force balance the tires. smooth as silk now.
