Another learning lesson is the jackwipe in the white car coming in hot, brakes locked up, barely able to stop in time. By my count, the initial crash was 12 seconds before he enters the screen... Pay attention to what's around/ahead of you!

Never understood why people follow so closely... I've avoided who knows how many accidents because people slam their brakes for no reason but I left enough distance (and was paying attention... ) to stop safely. I imagine we may see some 4Runner parts up on ebay or in the classifieds soon

Bad driver #1 in the sedan couldn't just go around, they have to stop on the freeway?! WTF?

Bad driver #2 in the 4th gen wasn't paying attention and ultimately totaled that 4th gen and the sedan. Most likely will pay high insurance now.

Bad driver #3 coming in hot with tires smoking at the end. Pay attention!

The other WTF is nobody moved the mattress out of the way. Nope. It's easier to set up a camera and catch the action happen.

The 4runner doesn't hit the brakes until about 10 feet before it slams into the back of the car. Lots of dumbass moves in this video for sure, and I bet the person in the car has some whiplash for sure...

So... basically the driver of the 4Runner decided to slam the brakes about 1 car length from a stopped vehicle at 70mph-ish; that's not even following closely, they're just unaware and being stupid, they had more than enough time to slam the brakes from outside the frame? That's almost as brilliant as the twat who's dead stopped for a mattress on the freeway...

Unfortunately that's pretty common for the idiots in the Bay Area also, I hate idiot drivers...

That was aweful! looks like the driver of the 4runner was following closely or didn't see the stopped vehicle ahead or distracted with something. too many possibilities.

the driver of the car should have at least turned on the hazard light if he stopped in the middle of the lane. swerving i think will not be a good idea if it's too late to do it, otherwise his car might hit the guard rail and turn upside down and crush him. you don't have time to look around if there's a car on your left or right. Well, at least both drivers were alive. swerving might have caused them their life. the 4runner driver at least were able to slow down a bit and avoid greater impact.

I had a few calls from friends after that video hit the news to make sure it wasn't me since I drive through there pretty often. I told them I pay attention to what's going on ahead of me.

The drivers in San Diego pretty much suck, especially in the rain.
