Views on 5th Gen body style

I was considering saving up to invest in a newer 4Runner, but I wasn't all to thrilled with the new body look. Its a great SUV (4Runner, duh...), but, it looks kinda like the 4th gen on mega-steroids, or a land cruiser/FJ Combo. I like the 4th gen body angles because they are a little more crisp, aerodynamically appealing, and classy, without standing out. I also liked the 2nd and 3rd gen for small SUVs, cause they just look pretty agile and rugged.

What are your views?

I like the 5th gen look a lot. But I did buy a 06' mainly because of $$. Now I'm glad I did because the more features the 4th gen has. Why don't you invest in a newer 4th gen??
 
Well, It's time to move up! 5th gen. overall design, safety, values and new features rock solid! That's my view.
 
I have a 5th gen as well and bought it because of some of the cues taken from the FJ.

I really never have liked the 4th gen - looks too generic and like many other things on the road.

Earlier gens are also distinctive - I can pick them out a mile away.

To each their own, however.
 
I bought my 5th Gen as much for the past as the present. It reminds me in some ways of previous Gens, but is bold and new in many ways. I love each Gen in its own right. Best vehicle ever, and I am proud as hell to be an owner.
 
I used to drive a 3rd gen and its still one of my favorite body styles. I'm one of those people was really dissapointed with the 4th gen body style... However, when I saw the new 5th gen, I was in love. It was like they combined the sharper lines of the 3rd gen with the 4th gen and made the best lookin SUV on the road.

I agree with the 4th gen on steroids comment... The 5th gen would go first round in the draft and looks awesome.

I think Toyota hit a home run with the styling of the 5th Gen. It looks just how a true truck based SUV should - tuff and modern! The 4TH Gen. is too rounded and curvy in its style - looks too much like a soccer-mom cross-over. 4TH Gen. was OK for 10 years ago, but its style has gotten very, very old.
 
I think it looks terrible. I can hardly stand to look at it when I get in it in the morning.

I usually drive around with my eyes closed just in case I see it's reflection in something.
 
I love my truck, and really like the look of the 5th gen. I didn't like the tires and wheels it came with however, so I got new ones I did like.

4th gen is pretty cool, but it looks too much like every other suv out there and too much like a highlander.

What did you expect people to say on a 5th gen forum?
 
I've had 2nd, and 3rd gen T4r's, I thought the 3rd-gen was nice when it came out, but I like this 5th gen even better. :bravo:

The body style was the reason I bought the thing. The squared off look gives it a rugged appeal, and it looks sick lifted! Not a big fan of the rounded off look.
