Viper 5900 Installed!

Well I finally managed to install my Viper 5900 Alarm with Remote Start after one hell of a Sunday.

Besides all the damn football upsets, We ran into a couple of problems along the way.

The 555F DEI immobilizer bypass which I ordered from Sonic Electronix wasn't catching my key code!
I was just gonna go get a damn 556 adaptor (the one where you have to put a spare key in the box) but it was about 6 pm so everywhere that would have it was closed.

We were both sitting there pissed off and confused, until my buddy goes "Wait, I MIGHT have one(he is an electrician and used to do car audio) but don't get your hopes up!"

So luckily, he actually had a 556 bypass unit sitting in his garage! talk about lucky hahah. We installed it and tested the remote start and VRRMMMMM

We did happen to have one more small problem though, after we finished everything, I was pulling out of his driveway and my cabin started smoking up!

Turns out my cb power cable got pinched or something and just started melting along with its ground cable from my kick panel down through underneath the side step. It was a close call but we managed to rewire and nothing was damaged!
I'm a happy camper right now and currently cannot control my modding

i did mine a couple weeks ago, 791xv or whatever the 5900 was called before it was the 5900. I'm about 50% happy w/ the unit. I got mine used for nothing, so i can't complain, and i don't have the immobilizer key, so the remote start was cake. What i don't like is this giant remote that beeps at me all the time, and eats batteries. I have the smaller companion on the way, so hopefully that will solve my issue. Only other annoying thing is the program mode is a bit tedious, but if you have a new unit, then most of the factory defaults are going to be fine, just the previous owner set up the auto arm feature, and i wanted to use the factory horn, rather than the DEI unit.

Install was super easy, and i found that grabbing some of the signals behind the gauge cluster was far easier than any of the "car audio" diagrams i found, you can get a door trigger from the cluster, w/ out the need to diode isolate, as well as the tach signal, w/ no need to run all the way to the ECU.

I do also have a window module, and just got the missing harness for the aux outputs, so controlling the front windows, sunroof, and rear glass, are next up for wiring in mine!

Wow. That alarm looks really nice. I'm guessing that it can be bought for cheaper than $600 installed?

What happens to the stock alarm?

yeah i got it for about 180 with a discount at best buy (heheh still have my old coworkers)

came with everything except the immobilizer bypass that not all cars need.

unfortunately mine did need one, but the shock sensor is pretty soild and i ordered the glass breakage sensor in the mail for about 20 bucks

So it's like $250 normally + about $150 installation?
