Hey all, as some of you may know Microsoft plans to release SP1 for Vista around march, and promises a better OS. Heres SP1 in ALOT of depth http://apcmag.com/6929/vista_sp1_in_depth . The reason I am posting this is because you can be a beta tester. What happened is that Microsoft released SP1 Beta RC1 to a small group of users, all of which yielded happy results, so far. It was eventually leaked through a registry hack to allow Windows Update to get you the Service Pack, pretty odd considering the way Microsoft does other things (I think they wanted it to get leaked). Word to the Wise:
Back-up EVERYTHING
If you don't have a genuine copy, I reccomend you don't instal yet
This is intended for those of use who are having problems with Vista, if you aren't I would HIGHLY advise that you stick with the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" until the final release.

Screw all the registry crap, I downloaded it directly from the hyperlink. Its a good start, but it shouldn't have been this bloated to start with. I am constantly having to downgrade clients to ole XP. I am Macboy at heart, but for work its XP with SP3 and Vista (soon to be released) all the way! Gizmopt2002 is right, this broke my activation hack. After installing I had "30 days to activate" http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/bb969139.aspx

Vista has too many problems to move our entire office network to it. Our client machines either run W2K or XP for now. Wouldn't be a sound investment for us since I would probably be the one to deal with all the headaches (I'm the network admin). Myself and two of my other co-workers even bring in our MacBooks from time to time because we're so sick of all the Microsoft crap. We love Leopard too. Trying to find a sneaky way to move us into X-serve!

I pretty don't like Vista either and tried to downgrade to XP on my laptop, but noooo, I spent nearly an hour changing the .ini file for my wireless adapter, finally got it to work, and then the connection would drop occasionally. The the video card drivers (ATI Radeon X1200) and Vista only. Tried every site, and everything in the book to get it to work properly, yet still no go. So put the restore discs in and wen back to Vista. *sigh* It ran soooooooo much better with XP though shutdown in 15 seconds, and from the second I touch the power button to when the HD stops moving, it was about 45 seconds to boot up. I do like Mac though, just not ready to switch.

Give it some time, as soon as people are "forced" to vista, the hackers will turn their attention on Vista, and those numbers will change. Some good news, SP1 is due in March! Windows Server 2008 is RTM as we speak.
