Guys I have a question regarding fuel consumption and mileage. Please bear with me as even calling me a beginner regarding cars is too much. Our currently unleaded price is 1.44 euros per liter which makes it around 7 liters per 10 euros.
I recently bought a Toyota Vitz 1.0 2008 (Japan Import with a japanese manual). I used to have a Kia Avella 13 1993 which would be consuming around €30 euros to 35 euros (averagely 8.72 liters per euro) of unleaded fuel for around 200 km. Now this Vitz is consuming around 23.5 euros for 200 km (averagely 12.1 km per liter). Now I am definitely not the best mechanic around by miles but I was assuming that this car should at most use only half the money of the Kia.
Now a friend of mine who has a Yaris 2008 spends not more than 13 euros per 200 km. He has suggested that the distance mileage is measured in miles which the speedometer is in km like his car but whoever I ask, everyone is saying that the mileage is in km too.
Now for my questions:
1) might the mileage be really in miles instead of km?
2) If it really is in km, any suggestions why it is using so much unleaded fuel?
