Ok, I've already searched T4R and Google with no answer. I have a 1993 with the designation VN39 SR5. I know what the SR5 is but can anyone tell me what the VN39 stands for? It is also the 4-7 #'s of the vin.

Since no-one has answered your question in days, I'll push my memory to the max.
It's a chassis/frame/engine type code. On my phone so i don't have exact info handy.
Like standard cab/long bed or xtra cab/short bed, etc.
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will jump to correct me.

Ya, I figured it might be something like that, but nothing references the number/letter combo. The other interesting thing about this thing is that the door tag states that it came stock with 225/75/15 tires, yet the diff code says 4:88 gear ratio. Couldn't imagine this thing with little tires and 4:88 gears, lol. Guess I could be reading it wrong but the code is G144:noidea:

Yeah, G144 is 4.88, which typically came with the 3.0 V6/auto trans/31" tire package.

Ignore the 225/75/15 on the door sticker. Most V6 SR5 4runners of that vintage were shipped with the small tires (and corresponding door sticker) to avoid truck import taxes, but were never intended to run that way. They were geared from the factory for 31 inch tires and the US dealers installed the proper tires as soon as they came off the boat.
