Voice Command for 05 OEM Nav.

I got around to installing the OEM mic and push button to activate the voice command feature for my 05 OEM nav. Actually Bobby (fellow member, thanks again Bobby) installed it within a couple minutes. Anyway, I got a chance to play with it last night. It works GREAT, it even controls the radio and cd. At first there were several commands that were misunderstood. It seemed to have trouble with the command to set home as the destination, it would add random points of interest (POI) instead. I then tried to pronounce the command differently and finally found out that you don't have to overemphasize the words and don

Did you install the 05 OEM Nav system in your 4Runner? I currently have an 05 SR5 with just the stock single cd player. I'm interested to see if it's difficult to switch it out and put in the OEM Nav system.

That's a neat add-on! I think the steering wheel control works with the voice control too and it looks a lot more integrated.

The audio funtions work really well. I installed the steering wheel button from the Landcruiser (link from tkr128) with the microphone and all you have to do is say Sat1, Sat2, FM, etc. to change.

Tthis works with the factory NAV, whether already installed when purchased or if you want to intsall yourself. However, the voice button for the steering wheel requires that you already have the factory steering wheel audio buttons. If your SR5 didn't come with them, you'll have to use the button that comes with the microphone (purchsed separately).

Adding OEM navigation to any 4Runner is fairly easy..... mostly a plug and play operation, with the exception of a couple of connections.

My Sport Edition didn't have the option of a factory-installed navigation system, so I purchased the OEM unit and installed it myself. A couple of pics can be found in this thread:

Ideally I'd like to do a clean setup with the Nav system and Sirius (integrated into the NAV system somehow). And like Koz did, put in the voice command system.

Oh.. and that OEMvalue site I can't access. Seems they've exceeded their bandwith usage... Sketchy!

I have been asking but no answer...I have installed the wheel voice option button...I have the mic and button that goes with it. I dont want to use the button but rather the wheel button. the white clip on the mic clips to the button and then there is a black male connector. how and where do I install the white clip if i choose to not use the push button that came with the mic? does it just plug to the back of the NAV deck?

I have a 2005 ltd with NAV.

And who did you purchased them from?

I'm curious if you got the ones for the 2006 T4R or something else like the one for the Land Cruiser.

I installed the landcruiser button on the steering wheel and when I press it once it beeps. When I hold it down a voice says "voice calibration completed." I dont know how to install the mic yet, but is this what is supposed to do with just the steering wheel button installed?

I have read the 05 Nav does not have an empty female for the mic clip is this correct?

The wires in the steering wheel coming from the left button have the exact color coding as the mic...yellow w/silv, red/silver, black/silver and white/silver. I though about jumping these wires at the steering wheel and attaching to the mic. Has anyone done this or have tech feedback regarding the wisdom of jumping the wires?

2005 Nav voice commanc install

Finally connected the voice nav to 2005 Limited...for those who have searched on this forum here are my conclusions.

Ordered JDM mic and push button (came together) and land cruiser right steering wheel button with ribbon.

Install of steering wheel button is straight forward...replace the right one with all blanks and attach ribbon and connect to right steering wheel button.

To install the mic, the Nav radio must be removed. The mic clips to the push button via a white connector. The black male connector from the push button connects to an empty female connection on the back of the Nav deck. There are only two open connections the smaller one is for the mic attachement. you must use the push button provided to connect to the back of the Nav.

Once installed, both push buttons will work to activate the voice function. i located the mic push button inside the middle arm rest so the passenger could activate it. I was concerned that one would cancel the other and such and wanted the stock lock of the steering wheel button.

I mounted the mic on top of the steering wheel column and works pretty good. Overall it is sort of a gizmo thing since it is more efficient and speedier to just use the push buttons available for tuner, cd and such. For Nav, it is very helpful since you can keep your eye on the road with less concern about the touch screen.

Maybe most of you already know this but I did not and could not get the answers I needed with search so for those that had question, I hope this helps you.

Can anyone help me with how to install the OEM Microphone? I bought it and have no idea how to install it! I purchased toyoa part number 86730-35020. There is a blue female connector on one end and what appears to be the Mic on the other. Has anyone installed this?
