voice tag purpose?

What are the purpose of voicetags? If I understand them correctly, they are the same as dial by name.

I tried playing around with the voice tag feature again this weekend. It seems that instead of saying my wife's name using bluetooth hands free, I can just create a voice tag called "Wife" and use that instead. Seems silly though since I can dial by her name already. Anyone find another use for this feature?

Ya same here not sure the purpose or how to use them, if anyone knows I would be interested. I talked to the service guys and they didn't know.

One thing the void tag helps is that for the names spelled in foreign language for which the dial by name voice recognition could not easily distinguish. For those hard to recognize name words, I put a voice tag, problem solved.

For the JBL Nav in the 4-Runner, you can create an "alternate name" throught the tags, then do the voice dial using the alternate name. On mine, the voice always uses the name tag. If you have names that are very simular, you can use the voice tag to create a name that is more distinct. My comments are based on the JBL, not the Entune system which has a much better voice dial capability.
