if you do your own oil changes will you void out the warranty?
No! you will not void it. My owners manual even mentions DIY maintenance. Just do what you can and do it on time. Have done what you can't do yourself at the dealer or a reputable mechanic.
My advice... Do it yourself and keep a logbook. I made one up myself, printed 100 pages off and bought a nice D-ring binder at Officemax. Fits nicely under the drivers seat.
On another note about keeping good logbooks, and I have kept them on all my cars, is when it is time to trade them in. More money! Here is the latest example.
Purchased a new 2006 4R SR5 two weeks ago. negotiated and settled on the price, then I brought up my trade-in.
we went back and forth on its value until they thought we were at the best price for it. Then I threw out the logbook. Salesman went back one more time and came back to me with an offer that was $1800.00 more

This is not the only time I fielded more cash for my vehicles when I sold them. The logbook is a good thing.
I'd be happy to email you ( or post one for anyones use) a page to use as a reference for your own.
