Volant intake on V6

Well I now have some extra scratch and am wanting to get an intake. I met a guy at school who has a Taco and also had a volant intake I also gave it a good look and wondered why shouldn't it work in the V6 4runner. The reason I'm looking at the volant is because it similar to the TRD/AFE and it cost alot less than both. any ideas? the pics is a Volant on a taco.

if you get a volant, go with the powercore filter, it is dry , not wet like the regular one, they can foul the maf sensor which will require cleaning every 3-5 thousand miles. this is what it looks like.

...I've looked at one myself and was going to get one, but read from others that the stocker modded is better?

do you mean that secondary filter removed? if so I did that a long time ago and run it with the K&N filter. I just wanted something to benefit or complement my bigger throttle body. I was just looking around for a good intake for not so much money. come monday I was gonna talk to volant and see what they say. I'll keep you posted

Not sure about the secondary filter. I thought they chopped away at the box some where? I read these postings awhile back so it's not to fresh in my mind. So you got a bigger TB, how's that working for you? And please keep me posted. Like I said I wanted one, but wasn't sure after reading some posts a long long time ago...

what ur talking about is the "deck plate" mod, modding the volant box is also a good way to go.

I think the deck plate mod is only for the 3rd gens and it works. My friend denno runs it on his limited and loves the extra hp. The bigger tb I got works better than the afe spacer I was running however I bet I only gained 1 to 3 hp. But the response is much better.

Yea that's what I was referring to. Looks like it might only be a mod for the V8. So perhaps a intake on the V6 would work and not be a total waste like some people spoke about. It's a lot to drop on a intake. I really only planned on Intake and Exhaust has far has performance mods, but the TB might play a big role in gain with a intake. How much was the TB and where did you get it?

proflowdesign.com high performance throttle bodies Now I will warn you, you can do two things. one is what I did and send it out meaning you have no car for like five days. or you can buy a core from them and still use your car and sell your old one when you get the overbored one. i dont know how much they charge for a core it only cost me $250 for the service and $30 for shipping. the last bit that makes a difference is tuning.

so i read and havent seen a clear answer....is there a volant for the v6?

Just talked to them a while ago and they said no it couldn't fit. I find that weird as the TRD/AFE fits all three models (FJ, Taco, 4runner) kinda bummed about it but I'm looking elsewhere.

Old thread bump

Did you ever get a reason on why it would not fit?
