Is your battery conventional or AGM? Also do you know if you have the 130amp alternator or the 100amp?

ATM battery but it was the same with stick battery, that's always been the voltage. No idea on alternator, whatever comes on the trail.

Not sure... if you are ever under the hood with a good light, you can see the end of the part number label. If it ends in "90" it's 130 amp model.
I will be very interested to see what your voltages change to. Thanks for the info.

I bought this to try it while I'm waiting for the HKB - it doesn't work
Mine caused my battery light to come on, which I think means no alternator output.
It was also annoying because the directions say to insert the stock 7.5A fuse into the empty fuse slot (it is made out of an add-a-fuse with a diode), however the add-a-fuse needs mini fuses and the stock fuse is a low profile fuse. So even if it worked that is pretty annoying that for $20 they can't throw in a $0.25 fuse.
If the HKB works I'm going to ask them about a bulk purchase so other people can buy without needing to pay $20 for shipping

I thought about that too but then I remembered all the BS naysayers and decided nope. Good luck, I sincerely hope you don't get stuck with a pocket full of diodes.
Mine is working great, no issues and my bluetop is charged.

yeah i had already ordered the HKB but figured what the hell, the ebay one is cheap enough to try
the description says 2003-2015 and while my 2016 shouldn't be any different than a 2015 i'm not going to pursue a charge-back or anything since i'm technically outside of their description. i did email them to let them know they i suspect it won't work for any 5th gen, i'll see how they respond.

Well that's disappointing. Keep us up to speed on the HKB as that's sounding like the way to go.

I've been running the HKB for about 2 weeks now. I have a solid .5v bump, which means I'm running between 13.6 and 14.4. My house Odyssey with my ARB on full time, seems to maintain a constant 12.4-12.6v, I do plug in my onboard CTEK about once a week just to keep everything topped off.
Other than taking a month to ship from around the works, it seems like it's working.

Never installed as I went with the alternator upgrade.
Cheaper than new with faster shipping!

That is correct. The diode prevents the flow back to the alternator sense if it's in backwards. That's what diodes do.
When the alternator can't sense anything your battery light comes on, because normally it would mean you are not charging for whatever reason.
Unsolder the diode and flip it the other way. Then it will work. Keep as a spare.

i understand how diodes work that is why i suggested that to the seller, and unfortunately i doubt i could undo their work because they covered it in epoxy

Bump for the HKB performing exactly as advertised. I have a Odyssey 31M AGM 10' SR5 with the 130amp alt and getting approx. 14.5 volts when fully charged at startup. I see about a 0.5 volt bump across the board from the stock output. Previously killed a Diehard 31M AGM over the course of 2.5 years with the standard alt output and not charging at all. Recently the truck sits 5-6 days at a time and so far have not had to charge the battery at all to get it back up to full charge after a decent drive. Money well spent IMO.

How did you get the epoxy off? Or was your not epoxied?
Flipped the diode on the one I got off ebay and now getting 14.2V consistently. So far it's been flawless the last 100 miles on my 2017 4Runner.

Mine had a mixture of silicon and what looked like heat shrink tubing. Was easy to remove with some needle nose pliers and a bottle of beer.

Have you let the seller know his diode is backwards? Was this a fluke since his feedback is so good?

i told him
it's not backwards for the vehicles that it fits in the other way, that's why the feedback is positive, but on our vehicles it can only fit in one direction which is backwards for the diode. if you were physically able to turn it the other way it would work. i wanted to do a side by side comparison to see which gave a better voltage boost, if i can cut the epoxy off i'll flip the diode and compare when the HKB arrives
