Voltage Booster 3rd Gen.

Has anyone used a voltage booster on a 3rd gen and had a good result after installing an AGM battery.
I drive a lot of small trips and usually do some longer drives on the weekends, my dilemma is that the small trips are making so I can only get get 1 start after a drive. if the car runs after an auto start and turns off ( the humanity ) I have to jump it.
Is there a part from

That works with the 3rd Gen? I also have a Lexus LS suffering a bit of the same fate due to lack of research on my behalf I guess :doh:

At first glance, it sounds like you have something else wrong you need to address. Have you investigated a massive drain somewhere in your electrical system? Have you tested your battery and Alt?

I run an AGM Optima and a stock Alt and have no problem letting it sit for weeks on end with only tiny drives in between to stay ahead of the street-sweeper. Twice a month I'll do a 400 miler. I bought a voltage booster from HKB Electronics but never used it.

Also, once charged as far as I know AGM need a smaller float (under 14 volts), so boosting your voltage might in the end shorten the life of the battery if you're often in the float stage (I am no expert). What I mean is that there is a chance that you will have a longer battery life even if it's not 100% charged without the voltage booster.

You have issues elsewhere, compounding that issue is short trip driving, it hurts the battery more then helps. I would first find out what is draining your battery, could be a bad alternator or a bad battery. If you have the ability, use a battery tender type of maintainer. I use a noco 2 amp maintainer as I drive less then 10 mins to work and back.

Like what others said, you likely have a drain from somwhere, I have the same problem.

For the "booster". Google "tacoma GM diode" and you will see some threads on people replacing the alternator fuse with the gm diode in order to make the alternator charge another half a volt or so. Might be what you are looking for.

In addition what has already been said, your existing battery is now probably damaged from being drained flat repeatedly. Sometimes they can be "brought back" after such use, but don't count on it.
My previous Odyssey battery went 7 years w/o any booster, but with a normally functioning electrical system. At the end of 7 years, it still started the truck, but had lost at least 50% of it's capacity.
I have been using the fancy adjustable HKB voltage booster for 2.5 years now. I figure I'll know in another 2.5 years if the booster helped at all.
