At 9 months, my daughter (now almost 4) was diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder called Glycogen Storage Disease. There are about 11 known types of GSD and Avery has Type 1a which is categorized as such due to a deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase in the liver, kidneys, and other organs of the body.

As part of trying to raise awareness about this disease, we have created a website and a Facebook page. We have also submitted a Toyota NASCAR design highlighting Glycogen Storage Disease in the Toyota Sponsafier Contest.
