VSC and check engine light on

I am new to this forum and forums in general but my boyfriend swears by ls2.com and ls1tech.com for his camaro ss, so I feel like you all might be able to answer my question. My check engine light and VSC on and other VSC light went on at the same time. This is the second time this happened and the first time my boyfriend just unplugged the battery and it went away...that was about a month ago. Now today it went on again, I feel like this only happens when I drive for a prolonged amount of time at 25-30 mph. I live in a small town so I have to. So anyway...is my 4Runner going to stop on me? Is this a big problem....should I take it to the dealer? Am I going to go flying off the road? It is a 2002 4Runner with about 50,000 miles. Thank you for your help!!

I don't know if this would help but when i took my 04 runner to the dealer they told me my gas cap was loose after those two warning lights came on at the same time.. since urs is a 02 i'm not sure if it would help... but just give it a try and if it still goes on i'm sure the other guys would be nice to help ya out.. hoep it works out well.

Almost 80% of the engine lights are emission related (O2 sensor or fuel issues). Do not use alchohol enhanced gas, try 91 octane if that doesn't change a thing have stealer scan your computer for trouble codes. Good luck.
