VSC Fault

Hello All!

Beautiful day here in Minnesota. While driving around today, my VSC Fault, VSC OFF, and Check Engine light came on. The roads are bare and dry, and I have not had a VSC event in a few weeks of driving.

I won't be able to take it in to the shop for another few days. Does anyone have any experience with a VSC fault? How much will this set me back? Was it a quick fix? (i.e. Computer reset)

I have thought about disconnecting the battery for a few mins, then reconnecting to see if I could do my own reset. If it comes up again, then there is definitely a problem within the system.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The same thing just happened to me yesterday. Did you ever get this resolved? Whats the deal! I read a thread about disconnecting the vsc, maybe our plug came loss. Im gunnna go check.

This might be a way that the vehicle throws a diagnostic fault code. The codes can be read using an OBDII scanner/reader.

Many auto parts stores like Autozone will read them for free or take her in to the dealer. The dealer may hit you with a $ 79 charger to read them

Save your money, Boys.

Disconnected the battery. Let the truck sit for 5 mins, then reconnected. The check engine indication and VSC warning lights are now gone.

Drove for another 40 miles, and did not re-appear.

Will keep posted if anything pops up, but for now, all systems are a GO.

After looking at IDAHO's link to a different thread, it seems to possibly be connected to the fuel/emissions somehow. I did just recently fill up. I have since re-tightened the fuel cap. Maybe that was the issue.

Mine did this twice. Both times I had an Oxygen sensor fail on the exhaust (2 different sensors). There are four Oxygen sensors (2 on each side). Just keep in mine that until this is fixed, your VSC is not operational so you can spin your tires which can cause problems.
