vsc light

I have a 02 4runner and I was over in my far south section and 3 lights came on, VSC off, VSC Trac and the engine light. I do not have a manual and I was wondering if anyone knows what the VSC is? The outfit ran just fine and all gauges were reading fine.
Thanks,
Gary

Hey Gary,
for some reason, the engineers of this truck decided to disable the vsc and trac when the check engine light comes on. The only time your check engine light will come on WITHOUT the vsc and trac lights coming on as well, is when it is a transmission problem.
VSC is Vehicle Stability Control (or Skid, one of the two) and cuts power to the engine when tire slippage is detected.

You'll need to get the truck scanned, but I'd be willing to bet there is no issue with your VSC or TRAC systems, but just the engine. Maybe the common P0420?

It's becoming more and more common on 01-02 t4r's for the skid control modules to fail its the whole master cyl deal under the hood.
