VSC OFF and VSC TRAC both ON

2003 4Runner V8 Autotranny 4WD

I just came from my annual inspection. They changed all the fluids. Flushed the EFI, etc, etc $477 later ...

Upon leaving the shop however both the VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights are ON and remain on. There is NO CHECK ENGINE light on, only the VSC lights.

Perhaps a different problem but when I switch into 4-LO it BLINKS and BEEPS. (I have never switched into 4-LO before so I'm not sure if this is normal or not).

I'm in NYC so going to a dealer is never a very pleasant experience.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

It sounds like you're doing it wrong. To switch into 4LO you must be in 'N' and Not moving. If it doesn't go try rolling at 3mph or less in 'N' then move the switch. The roll is NOT official procedure but it seems to help. If you go much faster than that it'll just beep. The beauty of the system is it won't really let you trash it. About all you can do that's bad is to drive it on a hard surface with the center diff locked.
