VSC Saved Me

It sold me

I am glad your VSC saved your bacon, I played with it with the first snow and ice here in the gorge to test the limits. It does get you pointed in the right direction quickly which I am grateful for. Passing the garbage truck on a country road this morning it got me back to my lane and kept me there after sliding to the other lane and attempting a drift. I would been in the orchard in my old pickup with that one.

I finally got my 4R in the snow tonight. In a parking lot I thought of this thread and figured I'd see what it would be like to use it. Pretty cool stuff! Glad to know it's there and what to expect if ever I really need it.

The modern 5th gen VSC is a brilliant driver aid.

I remember in my 3rd gen when the tail started to get out on you, an experienced driver would correct the skid, then the massively retarded VSC finally got around to realizing the truck had been in a skid and try to correct for the skid AFTER the truck had already been saved from the skid... and make things worse.

5th gen VSC is far more intelligent, less intrusive, and will work with you if you correct a skid (instead of against you) and respond less aggressively so that you don't go the other way.

Our roads in florida get slippery from time to time... albeit the non-frozen type of slippery. Always good to find an empty parking lot, crank the wheel and floor it to see waht components come into play. I love VSC, there's some trails i'll corner fast in and it's straightened me out a couple times.

Similar situation happened to me a few weeks ago and I almost made a thread. Mountain pass highway, extreme low temperatures and at 60mph started rotating sideways. VSC quickly braked one of the rear wheels and pulled me back in line. Worked amazingly well and amazingly fast. Could have been a very bad ending otherwise.

I do remember that post from a while back. but it just felt odd on the 2nd application of the brakes. the feedback from the brakes felt harder the 2nd & 3rd touch and the abs kicked in immediately on the 2nd & 3rd application.

I couldn't modulate the brakes like before at impending lockup, even with the transmission in neutral to remove the push from the drive train.

guess I just have to retrain myself from the Subaru and compensate for the extra weight compared to the Subaru.

Wow...I never thought I'd meet another person who owned an '80 Phoenix LJ. That was hands down the worst car I ever owned. Thank God for Toyota! Did you get good service from yours?

grandma hand me down. it was a decent car until i got my first toyota, 84 celica gt fastback in dark blue.

had a hole in the pipe before the muffler, covered the hole with duck tape every week as the exhaust would eventually burn a hole in it. was a poor teenager that had to pay my own gas/insurance so i didnt have much funds to fix stuff and i had no clue back then.

ran the 84 celica into the ground, engine was perfect after 160k miles, but the transmissions was shot (doesnt help when you and idiot kid and rev and drop it into drive). still got $2900 on trade in, they only wanted the dam engine, 22R-E i think. mine had the rear window louvers.
