VSC TRAC light on

As mentioned above, my VSC TRAC light is on in my 2001 SR5 4WD, but not the VSC OFF or check engine light. My ScanGauge isn't revealing any codes and I'm not experiencing anything different than what I consider to be normal operations.

I've disconnected my battery for well over an hour to see if that would reset the light, but it remains on. I should also add that upon turning the truck on, the light itself isn't on until I put the truck in drive and begin driving. Within seconds is when it pops up. I cannot figure out what on earth could be causing this. I don't have the Andy Mod 2.0 or anything done to my rig, so what are your thoughts?

I've perused the forum and Google itself without much results related specifically to this so I'm just not sure. I'm not terribly worried about it because the truck is acting normal, but if I can figure out what's causing it to turn on, I'd love to know.

Just guessing here but since the VSC runs through the ABS brakes you might try to pull any codes off of the ABS Possibly a rear sensor that would not show up in a ECU code check

You'll have to pull the abs codes. Brake fluid level good. Abs sensors could have buildup. like mentioned above pulling the abs codes would help.

Head's up you have to pull the codes using a paper clip and the diag connector under the hood or the Toyota Techstream software, your standard OBDII scan tools can't read them. There's links to the factory shop manual around the forum here for all the code diag steps.

So with this in mind, am I utilizing the diagnostic port that’s under the hood and NOT the OBD-II port for this? I’ve watched a few videos on that but they’ve all used the OBD port with a wire.

I also disconnected my front passenger ABS sensor yesterday and tried reading it with a voltmeter but I got zero response from it. I didn’t try the driver side though.

You have to use the underhood diagnostic port to flash abs codes. Also, if you were using a voltmeter with the wheel speed sensor side you will only be able to read ac voltage if the wheel is spinning.

So I'm going to be jumping the diagnostic port with two wires? I don't think I've ever even opened mine before.

**Update**

Turned my truck on today and began driving, no VSC TRAC light is on anymore. Very strange but I’ll update this thread if it returns. I haven’t done anything so I wonder if it just took a few driving cycles or something to turn off. But everything is working normally.

My symptoms were different and consistent and pointed to the Trac module being bad.
FSM section starting at DI-221 might come in handy if your problem should return.
