Vsc turned off

Recently I had the check engine light turn on in m 2004 with 1118k miles on it. I took it to the mechanic and he told me it was my catalytic converter in bank 2, but it is an expensive job and I really do not need to change it. As you know when that check engine ligh turns on your VSC turns off. However my mechanic deleted he query and turned off he check engine light, but the VSC is still turned off. Is there a way where I can get my VSC functioning again without changing out my catalytic converter?

Vsc off, vsc trac

just bought a 2007 4runner SR5, V6 engine a few weeks ago. as I was driving I started noticing VSC OFF, VSC TRAC light shows up and also the check engine light. What does this mean? Is that why previous owner sold this car?
Thank you all

check gas cap ,etc. take it to autozone or some place & see if there is a code. anyway, theres lots of threads that may give u the answer needed.

What do you mean by if there is a code? Also would taking out the battery for 30 min or so hopefully reset what needs to be reset?

a code will tell u if or what is wrong, & yes , disconnecting the - battery term. for a few min. will reset the ecu, which should turn the lights off if nothing else is wrong.

So i dc the battery terminal overnight. It did not get rid of the VSC lights, however I noticed that my 4r is now driving differently. First, I was parking on my driveway (which is on an incline slope) and sometimes I like to test the Hill Assist. This is the first time the hill assist did kick in. I am not sure if this is a symptom related to the VSC or that I reset my ECU.

Second issue is that now when the truck is idling in Neutral/ or at a Red. I notice that the the RPM drops down close to 0 like the car is about to shut off. If this a common occurrence? The car is driving a but sluggish now to. I am going on a a road trip at the end of the week hope I can get these issues resolved before then

Check Engine Light, VSC, and Trac Off light.

I had that same problem too, I used a scanner to see what's causing those lights to come on, the scanner was saying that my O2 sensor was bad. Took the truck to a mechanic and he scanned the same problem. Got my O2 sensor replaced and no light came back on since then.

Even though The VSC trac off light is showing, it does not mean that your tractions is not functioning! My '02 4tunner has the check engine and VSC trac and Trac OFf but the traction still functions. Toyota makes both check engine and vsc trac lights both come on at the same time for some safety reason apparently!
